Minimum server

Official requirements list 2 CPU cores and 6 GB RAM minimum, with 4 cores and 8 GB RAM recommended.

Use 64-bit Linux and the Docker Compose plugin, with PostgreSQL data preferably on a local SSD. Plan media capacity separately.

Pros

  • A polished mobile auto-backup experience
  • Photos, video, albums, maps, search and facial features
  • Your media remains on infrastructure you control
  • Active development and complete Docker Compose documentation

Cons

  • Higher memory, CPU and storage demands than lightweight apps
  • Media and PostgreSQL need separate backup plans
  • Major upgrades require careful review of breaking changes
  • Machine-learning jobs can create resource spikes
